Charles Bonvin Fils When Charles-Marie Bonvin started the wine growing business, the river Rhone was running wild and most of the valley was still marsh area, the railway had not reached Sion yet. Charles-Marie was a pioneer in developping the spectacular terraced vineyards on the hillsides and in 1858 he incorporated the first winery in Valais under the name of Charles Bonvin Fils. The Bonvin family kept building continously, replanting many vineyards over the years and acquiring prestigious domaines. Today the wine growers follow strict guidelines for environmentally safe production (integral production).
